Политическая либерализация и мировой экономический рост последних десятилетий позволили надеется на то, что идеи мульти-культурности и толерантности помогут бороться с крайними формами национализма и экстремизмом. Данные надежды не оправдались, а мультиэтничность продолжает создавать вызовы внутренней политике многих стран. Россия не является исключением. Данная статья рассматривает основные философские и политические дебаты на эту тему в нашей стране и за рубежом. Автор показывает, что существующие парадигмы не способны успешно разрешить «проблему» национализма малых народов. Поэтому вместо попыток искоренить данное явление необходимо взять курс на разработку политико-философских оснований, позволяющих включить малый этнический национализм в современные политические процессы.

Economic growth of the past decades coupled with the recent waves of democratization allowed to hope that multiculturalism and political tolerance could help to marginalize extreme nationalism and ethnic extremism. Nevertheless, political pressures exerted by ethnic and national minorities worldwide continue to pose multifarious challenges. The article examines some main debates on the subject that take place in Russia and beyond. The author argues that modern paradigms are not capable to provide us with an exhaustive framework that could tackle minority nationalism successfully. Instead of «eliminating» or «neglecting» the problem of ethnic minority nationalism we should think of new concepts that could help to integrate it into modern politics.
