Соответствующий вызов известен под именем мультимодальности, и он будет иметь далеко идущие последствия для эпистемологии и онтологии в целом, а с ними и для всех аспектов культуры.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>It was confidently assumed in the ‘West’ that language is the guarantor of what is distinctively human, rational, essential for reflection, capable of expressing every aspect of human life, but the semiotic world is changing rapidly. So now language is being challenged in its present dominant position by other means of representation (modes). That challenge goes by the name ‘Multimodality’, and it will have far-reaching effects on epistemology and ontology, and with that on all aspects of culture.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>модусы</kwd><kwd>мультимодальность</kwd><kwd>социальная семиотика</kwd><kwd>модулярность</kwd><kwd>линейность</kwd><kwd>дизайн</kwd><kwd>речь</kwd><kwd>письмо</kwd><kwd>язык</kwd><kwd>изображение</kwd><kwd>семиотическая работа</kwd><kwd>экстралингвистические средства</kwd><kwd>modes</kwd><kwd>multimodality</kwd><kwd>social semiotics</kwd><kwd>modularity</kwd><kwd>linearity</kwd><kwd>design</kwd><kwd>speech</kwd><kwd>writing</kwd><kwd>language</kwd><kwd>image</kwd><kwd>semiotic work</kwd><kwd>extralinguistic means</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Barthes R.
