В статье представлен анализ ментальных моделей, формирующих основу графических метафор, которые появились в американской карикатуре в течение периода, начавшегося после биржевого краха на Уолл-стрит в «черный вторник» 29 октября 1929 г. Основной упор сделан на описании наиболее частотных типажей, ставших своеобразным лицом Великой депрессии. Методология исследования берет начало в работах по метафорическому моделированию и мультимодальной метафоре. Описаны результаты работы с архивными данными. Описаны основные культурно обусловленные смыслы, участвующие в создании образов американской карикатуры.
He paper investigates mental models which form a basis for graphic (multimodal) metaphors that were connected with the representation of people in American editions in the time that is traditionally called the Great Depression. The basic target of our investigation is formed by the representation of different social strata in America of that period. The methods of investigation are formed on the basis of conceptual metaphor theory, multimodal metaphor approach. As a result we’ve described transferred meanings, pun, decomposition of set-expressions and analyzed images that are deeply rooted in culture. All these form the basis for satire and irony in political cartoons of the given period.
