Conspiracy theories in contemporary political ideologies of Russia and the United States: How Marginal is the Language of Conspiracy?
Abstract
The article examines the phenomenon of conspiracy theory as a tool of the populist rhetoric which is characteristic of political ideologies in contemporary world. Based on the current cases from American and Russian political history the author concludes that conspiracy theories are commonly used in political debates and ideologies of both of the countries. However, certain particularities in political cultures of Russia and the U.S. impact their development and further promotion in public discourse.
