Переосмысление темы империи в современной политической риторике в Великобритании

Статья посвящена новым тенденциям в современной политической жизни Великобритании, обусловленным заметным повышением интереса к теме Британской империи и переосмыслением ее опыта в самых разных направлениях. Среди них – отношения Великобритании с ЕС в преддверии и после Брекзита; идеологическое наполнение и планирование британской внешней политики в новых условиях; исторические оценки и их восприятие обществом. Автор предлагает анализ этих тенденций, рассматривая научные публикации на указанную тему, речи значимых политических фигур и экспертов, стратегические документы правительства и материалы СМИ.
Отмечается, что наиболее ярко такие тенденции проявляются в полемике относительно выхода Великобритании из ЕС. Противники Брекзита обвиняют оппонентов в «имперской ностальгии», в то время как его сторонники предпринимали попытки представить Евросоюз в качестве новой формы империи. Поиск ориентиров для внешней политики страны после выхода из ЕС приводит к попыткам выстраивать более тесное сотрудничество со странами, объединенными с Британией общей историей, языком и культурой, и, в свою очередь, вызывает упреки в желании восстановить Британскую империю. Одновременно с этим очередной виток интереса к теме расизма и угнетения народов на глобальном и национальном уровнях возвращает в публичное поле дискуссии о разрушительном наследии колониализма и приводит к новым явлениям в британской политической и общественной жизни. В результате тема империи оказывается еще одной линией раскола в британском обществе, а обсуждение имперского наследия приобретает в современной политической риторике новые характеристики.
